Celebrating the Success of 2024’s Outstanding International Graduates at Beijing Normal University --Ahmed, Md Rezoan: A Passion for Education, Cultural Exchange, and Volunteerism at BNU

Beijing Normal University (BNU) is home to a diverse group of international students from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, each bringing unique dreams and aspirations. These students, united by their shared goal of learning and growth, gather in this esteemed university—a place rich in history and tradition. Within the picturesque campus nestled in the Phoenix Valley, they not only showcase their vibrant cultural heritage but also embrace and contribute to the rich tapestry of China's traditions and values.

Today, we celebrate the achievements of four exceptional international graduates who have been recognized as 2024's Outstanding International Graduates of BNU. Among them is Ahmed, Md Rezoan, also known as Rocky, who hails from Bangladesh and is a graduate student at Belt and Road School(BRS) of BNU. Throughout his academic journey, he has taken on multiple roles as a teaching assistant, actively participated in numerous cultural and academic events, and dedicated himself to volunteer work. His outstanding contributions have earned him the prestigious "Phoenix Ambassador" honorary title.

Dedication to Academia

Ahmed has served as a teaching assistant for three professors, contributing to the successful delivery of four major courses: Emerging Market Economies, African Economic Development, Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Economies, and Asian Economies. His commitment to academic excellence and mentorship has helped support both professors and fellow students in their learning journey.

Active Participation in Cultural and Academic Events

Beyond his coursework, Ahmed has enthusiastically engaged in various international and university-led initiatives. He has been a dynamic participant in events such as the International Chinese Language Day, “Beijing Wonderful Night” Beijing Campus Dance Performance, The Youth Talk, and the Cambodian Student Summer Camp. His presence has also been felt at campus-wide celebrations like the Autumn Festival, Practical Chinese Language Courses, and the "Charm of Zhuhai" video project as part of the Phoenix Ambassador initiative. Additionally, he has showcased his artistic side at the Valley Arts Festival and the“Beijing Wonderful Night” Beijing Campus Dance Performance.

Commitment to Volunteer Work

Ahmed’s passion for giving back to the community is evident in his extensive volunteer efforts. He has served as a photographer and volunteer in welcoming the BRS 2023 freshmen, contributed to the Low-Carbon Green Campus initiative, and participated in the 6th China Education Innovation Expo. Moreover, he has represented students at key forums, including the 2nd International Climate & TV Conference hosted by BRS and the 5th JingShi "Belt and Road" Forum in Beijing.

The Meaning of These Activities

Reflecting on his participation in these events, Ahmed expresses deep gratitude for the opportunity to immerse himself in Chinese culture. "Through these activities, I have learned so much about China, things I never knew before. I am thankful to BNU for providing such a vast platform for students. To new students, I would encourage them to explore these opportunities beyond academics based on their interests."

Strengthening China-Bangladesh Relations

As an MBA student with a strong connection to China, Ahmed sees great potential for trade cooperation between China and Bangladesh. "Trade relations between the two nations are already growing rapidly. Beyond that, I aim to introduce the healthy Chinese lifestyle to my home country. As an MBA student, I also hope to analyze and address gaps in existing China-Bangladesh trade relations to further strengthen bilateral cooperation."

Personal Growth and Career Aspirations

Studying in China has significantly shaped Ahmed’s outlook on personal and professional growth. "Having lived in multiple cities, I have seen firsthand the rapid development of China. Each city I have visited has left a strong impression on me. Studying here has taught me the importance of following community regulations and coexisting harmoniously with others."

Ahmed, Md Rezoan’s journey at BNU highlights his dedication to education, cultural exchange, and service. As he moves forward in his career, he carries with him a wealth of experiences that will continue to guide his contributions to international cooperation and development.
