College of Education for the Future

Based on its "three steps" strategic framework, BNU accelerates carrying out the spirit of the 2018 National Conference on Education, promoting the modernization of education to serve educational development needed in the Midwest of China and the purpose of building “Double First-Class University” under the principle of “One University,Two Campuses.” Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai is dedicated to becoming the “Whampoa Military Academy” of elementary and secondary teachers, leading reform and development of teacher education, and implementing future-oriented outstanding teacher training. These methods will bring out a batch of outstanding future teachers with high educational ideals and spirits, continuous learning interest, and motivation. In May 2019, College of Education for the Future was established as an institutional teaching and research institute based in the Zhuhai Campus. College of Education for the Future undertakes the teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates, cultivating outstanding teachers and top-notch innovative talents. The college has a strong faculty with distinct training characteristics. In 2019, it recruited 576 undergraduates categorized into science experimental class, physics class, humanities experimental class, history class and physical education class. Students need to receive core course education in their first year and choose a specific field for later study at the end of the second semester.


(I) Establish a three-stage excellent teacher education curriculum system: Stage One focuses on cultivating the educational spirit of future teachers, and offers courses led by renowned teachers and principals, and lectures by prestigious educators; Stage Two focuses on cultivating the teaching ability of future teachers, and offers courses such as Researching in Curriculum Framework and Textbook, and Teaching Design; Stage Three focuses on cultivating future teachers' career development and lifelong learning ability, and offers elective courses such as Experiments of Intelligent Classroom Teaching.


(II) Strengthen the students’ foundation of mathematics, science, literature and history, and improve their core qualities: All undergraduates are required to take Advanced Mathematics and Statistics and additionally, science major undergraduates are required to take Elementary Physics. Each student is required to take at least two classics work study courses.


(III) Focus on project-based learning and scientific research training to promote students' inquisitive learning; we will integrate education with big data, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality to create a teaching ecology based on intelligent learning.
