A special National Day event titled Ancient Charm and Modern Spirit Integration of Science and Innovation held

On September 29, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches on telling the Chinese story well and spreading the Chinese voice, Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai) organized a National Day event titled "Ancient Charm and Modern Spirit: Integration of Science and Innovation." Over twenty international scholars and scholars from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, visited the Huawei Songshan Lake Campus, one of China's modern high-tech enterprises, explored the Keyuan Museum, one of the four famous gardens in Lingnan, and traversed the world-class infrastructure of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, embarking on a cultural journey that bridges between ancient times and modern times.

1. Setting Off

Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link: A Maritime Gateway Connecting the Future

At 8 a.m., the visiting group set off on time, with their first stop being the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, known affectionately as the "Little White Dragon" of the Lingdingyang Bay. As the vehicle entered the impressive 24-kilometer-long marine engineering marvel, everyone was awestruck by its grandeur. The official opening of the Bridge not only sets a new milestone in transportation history but also serves as a powerful engine for the coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, showcasing a more open, inclusive, and confident China to the world.

2. Exploration

Huawei Songshan Lake Campus: An Oasis of Innovation Fusing Intelligence and Care

By 10 a.m., the group arrived at Huawei Songshan Lake Campus, a global core base for research and innovation located by the scenic Songshan Lake in Dongguan. With its distinctive European-style architecture and rich atmosphere of innovation, the park captured everyone’s attention instantly. The group toured the Huawei Library and the Art Bridge, took a ride on the iconic Huawei train, and experienced the rapid flow of information and resources within the park, appreciating Huawei's value and culture.

3. Visiting the Past

Keyuan Museum: A Sparkling Jewel of Lingnan Gardens

In the afternoon, the group proceeded to Keyuan Museum, a gem of Lingnan gardening located in Dongguan's Guancheng District. Established in the 30th year of the Daoguang reign (1850) of the Qing Dynasty, this garden is renowned for its exquisite layout, rich cultural connotations, and unique artistic style, earning the praise of the scholars. As they wandered through the landscape, they admired the sophisticated architecture, lush flora, calligraphy and paintings, experiencing the unique charm of Lingnan gardens.

4. Return Journey

Returning with Fulfillment, Celebrating National Day

As the sun set, the event drew to a close. The scholars expressed that the activity was of great significance, enhancing their understanding, broadening their horizons, and allowing them to appreciate the innovative charm of Huawei Songshan Lake Campus while feeling the unique flavor of Lingnan gardens. They deepened their understanding of a technologically advanced China and their love for traditional Chinese culture, extending sincere wishes for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. This event further fostered communication and friendship among foreign and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan scholars, contributing to a harmonious and inclusive campus atmosphere at BNU Zhuhai.
