Beijing Normal University (BNU), a key university directly under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, is a famous university with major disciplines in arts and sciences，education especially teacher education. The 13th Party Congress of Beijing Normal University in 2017 further clarified the position of the university as a "comprehensive, research-oriented, world-class university with Chinese characteristics leading in teacher education", and it aims to be among the top world-class universities by the middle of this century. It will build a discipline development system led by high-end disciplines and an integrated schooling pattern with Beijing Campus and Zhuhai Campus as two wings.

Based on "three steps" strategic framework of BNU, Faculty of Arts and Sciences accelerates the carryout the mission listed in the 2018 National Conference on Education, serving the purpose of building “Double First-Class University”（world-class universities and first-class disciplines）under the principle of “One University，Two Campuses”, and implements future-oriented excellent talent training. The faculty aims to create a group of top innovative talents with ambitious educational ideals and sentiments, life-long learning interest and motivation, solid academic foundation, excellent skills in communication, cooperation and leadership, broad international vision and competitiveness, and the courage to face challenges and conduct wide exploration. In December 2020, Faculty of Arts and Sciences was established as an institutional teaching and research institute based in the Zhuhai Campus. Faculty of Arts and Sciences undertakes teaching work for undergraduate and graduate students and is committed to cultivating top-notch innovative talents.
